Most dogs can swim. Far fewer can swim for twenty minutes, climb a boat ladder, or cope with a current — and none of them can tell you when they are tiring. This vest buys you the time to get them out.

Why you'll love it

  • High-buoyancy panels along the flanks and under the chest, which keep the head up rather than just keeping the body afloat
  • Reinforced rescue handle across the back — the whole point of a dog life jacket. You can lift a soaked dog straight out of the water or over the side of a boat.
  • Reflective trim so they stay visible against dark water and in low light
  • Adjustable belly and chest straps with quick-release buckles, so it is snug enough not to slide over their head
  • D-ring on the back for a lead once you are back on dry land
  • Bright, easy-to-spot colours — blue, orange and rose red

Getting the fit right

A life jacket that is too loose is worse than none — it rides up over the head in the water. It should be snug enough that you can slide two fingers under the straps and no more, and it should not shift when you lift the handle.

Sizes run S to XXL. We are confirming the exact chest and neck ranges for each size with the maker. Until then, please email us your dog's chest girth, neck measurement and weight and we will tell you which size to order. For safety equipment we would much rather size you ourselves than have you guess — and size swaps within 30 days are easy.

Care

Rinse in fresh water after every swim, especially after the sea or a chlorinated pool, and dry flat in the shade. Salt and chlorine are what kill the stitching and the buckles, not the swimming.

Safety — please read

  • A life jacket is a buoyancy aid, not a substitute for supervision. Never leave a dog in or near water unattended, jacket or no jacket.
  • Fit and test it in shallow, calm water before any boat trip, open water or current.
  • Check the straps, buckles, stitching and handle before every outing. Retire the jacket if any of them are damaged.
  • Not suitable for brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds in deep water without veterinary advice, and not a substitute for swimming ability.
